Saying Goodbye to Our Land Park Cactus Garden

By
Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

My husband is not a guy who likes change. As we get older and more set in our ways, change is difficult for many people. Then there are the people who like changes simply because it shakes up things, makes life different, offers variety, a chance to explore, learn, grow. And you can bet which direction I lean, LOL.

So you can imagine the shock my husband lives with day after day, never knowing when I might pronounce the death of something and the arrival of something new. Hopefully this new thing will make our lives better by increasing the amount of time we can walk by the cactus garden and not feel guilty that we have not weeded, pruned nor babied our creation.

Ignored, the cactus garden over 10 years grew into massive proportions. Succulents reaching over the concrete. Cacti growing into each other. A stickly, prickly mess. We tried hiring guys to thin it out, but they never did a good job, and you know what, plants keep right on growing!

You can read more in my personal blog today and view more photographs at this link: The End of our Cactus Garden in Land Park.

Hi Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents, I know it's a lot of work to make it look like the way you did in the last picture on your post. It looked absolutely beautiful though.  You're right, grass is much easier.

Elizabeth, LOL I can see Adam not enjoying change, but he has lived with you long enough, he should expect it!   Looks great.

The City of Minot has succulent gardens but they pull the plants every Fall and plant them again in the Spring. That would be one way to keep the garden looking good year after year Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents .
