This post is an entry for Paul Henderson's "My October 2018 update your profile challenge." The contest is simple. Simply change our ActiveRain profile photo, indicate how old our current photo was, include both photos and ta-da, that's it.
The point of the contest is to get those of us who don't look like our photos to update them, so we could be recognized if we met in person.
My current photo was actually updated fairly recently; probably about three months ago. You'd recognize me if you saw me, but then again, there is one difference between the "real" me and these photos. All my "professional" photos have one thing in common. That is, they were taken fairly soon after I visited the hair salon. I'm not ashamed to say I cover my gray, and my hair dresser is fantastic at getting my hair pin straight. So my photos are done with straight, dark, non-grey hair.
In reality, though, I never look like that. So while the face is accurate, the hair never is. A few weeks ago, I decided to cut off about 6 inches, and I've been letting my hair air-dry. I have wavy, sometimes frizzy hair. So the second picture provided is the "real" me - the "me" you would see if you met me on the street.
This current one was taken by a professional photographer with professional equipment:
This one was taken with my phone, selfie version, this morning:
I actually like the second one better. I'm always better with "real" (except for the covering the grey part).
And that is my entry for this challenge! Happy October!
