Of All the Places for Doctors to Stick a Needle

Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

Remember when Dorothy of Oz found the Tin Woodman all rusted out in the forest? She grabbed an oil can and started oiling his joints, slowly restoring speech and movement. Well, when you reach the age of 65, you know what I'm talking about. All of these pesty little aches and pains begin to appear. Little shot there, little shot here, all better.

For some people, it's severe pain. For others, like me, most of the aging process is simply bothersome so far. This journey makes you wonder what else can go haywire with your body and then something does. Fortunately, my health insurance is through UC Davis, so many specialists on staff. Cutting-edge medical care.

Although most of my blog today is about this very common procedure that was prescribed for me, even though I did not suffer from any pain whatsoever. I didn't even know you could have it done. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: The Deteriorating Lawrence J. Ellison Parking Garage Elevator.

Ouch.  I just had a flu shot and could barely handle that.  The needle dude told me he would not give me the shot until I completely relaxed my arm.  After many deep breaths I was finally able to do that and my arm barely hurt the next day.

Good afternoon again Elizabeth. I am older than you I think, and I cope with shots.

I'm not a good shot taker at all Elizabeth. I know as I get older it's a necessary evil but it will never be normal. A simple flu shot not only hurts (still) but I end up with a nasty bruise each time

Hi Elizabeth- I've not heard of Morton's Neuroma but glad that the shot didn't hurt. I had a cortisone shot in my trigger finger once that hurt like heck. It hurt more than the shots of filler that I had in my face.

I used to hate shots but got over it after I had to give our dog daily insulin shots.

Elizabeth, so that is what you were doing yesterday!   I am allergic to needles, but if it stops the sensations you are experiencing, hope it helps!

I feel your pain, I have a needle phobia. In my past I've fainted from just seeing one.  And this past week I had my FIRST EVER flue shot. The people helping me at CVS thought that was hysterical until I told them I've been known to faint standing up and my head makes a nasty sound hitting the floor. At that point they became very professional.

I don't usually have any fear of needles.  However, I once had to go in for a "bleeding time" test.  They sent me the disclosures about it before I actually went in to have it.  I swear the disclosure sounded like they were going to use a guillotine on my arm.  They talked about the "snapping of a blade."  I showed up at the lab the next day, they snapped, and I fainted away onto the floor.  I woke up on a guerney a few feet away with a fan blowing in my face.

Kathy Streib It's been 3 days and I still feel that sensation of gum stuck to my foot. So I might have gone through that shot for nothing. :(

Myrl Jeffcoat When I had my ingrown toenails removed, I could not see what the doctors were doing behind the screen. They blocked my view. So I'm sitting there reading a magazine, no pain, nothing, as they are cutting and digging, whatever, but my brain went into overdrive and suddenly I reacted. I sweated profusely, began shaking, my back stuck to the chair and they came running with cold towels and a glass of water before I passed out.

I know what you mean, Elizabeth. It seems to be all about maintenance now, much like maintaining a car.
