In the Spring, John shut down our pellet stove with hardly a warning, and I mourned the lost opportunity of saying goodbye before it was shut off. Dramatic, I know. But we used the pellet stove exclusively to heat our home last winter and I grew accustomed to it being on, the sound it makes is comforting, and I spent hours upon hours reading and editing in front of it. Today marks the first day of its use for the 2018 Fall/Winter season and I am so happy.

Pellet stoves are amazingly effective. Even in our mild climate in the Silicon Valley, one of our rental condos had a pellet stove and I was amazed how efficient they are. Enjoy autumn!

Kasey & John Boles - Oh, I could get quite comfortable in front of that pellet stove too! I'd be cuddled up with books or papers too. There's nothing more stimulating to the mind that the flickering of fire indoors by a pellet or fireplace when you're home for the evening.

I wanted a wood stove William Feela but John talked me into a pellet stove and I'm glad that is the direction we went. A bit of ash, but not as messy or smoky as a wood stove, and we use it way more since we just have to load it with pellets and not firewood. -Kasey

Lottie Kendall we tested it all last year by using it as our only heat source and then compared our winter heating bills and we did reduce our electricity and had lower utilities overall, even with the cost of pellets. -Kasey

Our air conditioning is still running in Maryland.
I have never used a pellet stove. I do not recall ever even seeing one.
Much easier than having a wood pile to keep up with, that's for sure Dorte. We did have a wood fireplace at our previous home. I loved the idea of it, but we used it only once in 3 years! -Kasey
Gas fireplaces are common here Roy Kelley but some people have pellet and wood stoves. We don't have gas at our home, but pellet is more economical anyway. We love it! -Kasey
