Playoff Baseball: My favorite season, it has interfered...

Playoff Baseball: My favorite season, it has interfered with our vacations and other activities over the years… what events have interfered with your vacation or what events have interfered with some memorable dinners?

As most of you know I am an avid Baseball Fan, more specifically an avid Red Sox Fan , not like some of my friends, who are “fair weather fans”. (By their own admissions)

www.endrebarath.com

I follow my team from ‘Game One’ until their last game…. There were years when my team was done early, and  they were not part of the Post Season activities.

There were years when Diane and I would be out having Dinner at Matsuhisa’s Restaurant, BTW that was his first one in Los Angeles. Most people know his other restaurants by his first name of NOBU. We were having a fantastic meal with a disappointing finish of the game. Sadly the Yankees beating  my team. Just to be clear it was a devastating 11th inning loss . (The year was 2003)

Another time we were having Dinner at  Chandon in Napa, CA when the Manager left Pedro “Who is Your Daddy” Martinez too long in the game,  also with devastating results. ( The year was 2004)

Not all Post Season games were bad, I also remember being at Lake Tahoe watching  the Red Sox dismantle the Colorado Rockies. (The year was 2007)

The joke used to be, that Diane had to schedule our vacations and going out to dinner around the Playoff Games.

There were quite a few times over the past 20+ years when Playoff Baseball Games were interfering with our vacations or  interfering when were having a fantastic dinner in some great restaurant, but I just do not want to bore you with all of them.

Lately we opted not to go on vacation or go out to dinner during Playoff Season. This way I could enjoy and concentrate on the games, without additional stress.

Now keep in mind, this year I am in Escrow on three properties as we speak and it has been a challenge to juggle the real estate activities and still be able to watch most of the Games😊!

So, this brings me to my original question: What events have interfered with your vacation or just going out to memorable dinners, please share with us here in this post?

Unfortunately, I haven't had to worry about the Playoffs interfering with any activities for 17 years.  That's the last year my Mariners made the playoffs... and got booted the first round after the best season ever.   I think we not only hold the dubious distinction of having the best win record for a season (tied with the 1906 Chicago Cubs) AND the longest playoff drought.  Ugh.

All that said, I do watch whoever is in the playoffs.  It was quite a game between the Braves and Dodgers last night.  The Braves survived a thriller to play another day.

Go Red Sox!

Endre- for me, it is usually football and chose not to go out to dinner on my birthday because there was a good Sunday Night game on. I can remember at a very good friend's son's wedding it was during March Madness and Larry had me give him updates from my phone. BTW- it is Monday night and I am watching the Saints v Redskins on one channel and flipping to the baseball game. You are up 1 to 0!!!

Endre Barath, Jr. we are a baseball family too and post-season is one of our favorites as well. Our teams are the Minnesota Twins (well, mine, John couldn't care less about them) and KC Royals. We feel a sense of loss when post-season is over, and we rejoice in February/March when Spring Training begins. We've gone down to Arizona several times for Spring Training games. -Kasey

Kasey & John Boles  it is a void for me too and now that is the only sport I get excited about mostly due to the unpredictability unlike Basketball  where the best players and best team generally win unless they become lethargic:)Endre

Lisa Von Domek  I am sorry I did not give 100 per cent attention to the call:)) now just to be fair, I was not taking any calls during today's game, I had to remind myself to breath in the 9th Inning:))Endre

Good morning Endre - it is certainly understandable that it would interfere with your vacation.  Although, there are more chances today to catch the game on a mobile device.

Endre Barath, Jr. something I am very thankful for is that John really pays no attention to any other sports besides baseball, and we both happen to love it and both played (well, I played softball) when we were younger, so it makes it fun to follow together and I don't have to deal with sports like football and basketball that I have no interest in. :-) Kasey

I had to chuckle at you and your passion, Endre - we're like that when the Panthers are playing (and like you, win or lose)! We also do this with our college basketball team and so enjoy those games.

We do plan around them and as long as there's a TV and the game is on, we're good to go out and socialize. I've had deals going on and am happy to focus on those when the calls come in during games. If we're with a crowd, I always tell the other agent to text me and I'll step out and phone them - we're very vocal sports fans!!

Have fun - enjoy the games and of course, I'm rooting for your Red Sox! Lisa Von Domek and I want you in a good mood in Boston!!
