Google to Say Bye Bye to Social Network Google +

I was reading an article today in the La Times by Sam Dean . Yes there are days that this Philly woman does read the LA times. and much to my surprise I read that Google is planning on shutting down their social network platform Google +. Apparently there was a privacy breach back in March allowing third party apps to access personal  information . They fixed it and it was right around the time Facebook had their problems .

 

The company cited two major factors in its decision to end the service: its small and unengaged user base, and a newly announced privacy lapse affecting up to 500,000 users. Google says most people just do not use the Social Network Google + and when they do they do not stay on the site long

The consumer version will slowly come down in the next 10 months  and by August will be gone

The Wall Street Journal also wrote an article on  the Google+ shut down

Hannah, I watched a news segment on this yesterday and can't say I was surprised. Just never really seemed to take off. I still posted blogs there but, had stopped a few weeks ago just because it didn't seem to help with SEO anymore. Thank you for keeping us all informed.

Lisa Von Domek  you do not use Google products gee  I use so many of their products including their email.  I love to drink from their assortments of juices

Endre Barath, Jr.  well time will tell . There is a whole group  that we know that uses Google +  but when you think about it has not really caught on like Google Buzz it's predecessor

Gabe Sanders I wonder if those that left AR would return if Google + closed it's doors

Brian England seems many feel the same as you including myself

Joan Cox  Many people post there they just seem to only post not really answer each others comments on their posts like on AR or o Facebook

Kasey & John Boles  That is what is missing just seems to be posts without interaction and that can only last so so long

Everyone I know still uses Facebook Will Hamm  the people who left really weren't active users .  People have Facebook on their phones and other sites Don't know anyone who has Google + on their phone .  I have Google and Google Business also Google maps .  We will see

I heard this too, Hannah, and have to say that I'm sad to have put the time that I did into the site to set it up and to continue to 'feed' it for several years. I'm one who posts, checks the front page, liking others' posts and then leave - less than 5 minutes on the site, typically!

Other than that, I prefer FB to the other social media networks and will continue to keep up with my sphere there...to me, that's my bread and butter social media site anyway!

I read a similar article, ironically, on Facebook, where I get most of my news. :)

I had a Google+ Page, but like others, never utilized it. Google Business seems to be perhaps a better fit for us as real estate professionals.

Ron Tissier  I use mine daily .I think most people use Facebook or Twitter  as their social network then of course there are those who use Linkedin
