As I stare at the blinking cursor and the flashing battery indicator on my laptop all I can say to myself is "I can't believe I left the charger at home!"
Shaking my head as my fingers dance around the keyboard like a whirling dervish. I try to finish up the counter offer on my listing before the computer exhales its last dying breath.
You never realize how missing even the smallest tool can affect your whole day until it's missing.
It throws you off. Like a car that pulls to the left because it is not aligned properly. You think you can go straight down the road and then you notice that you have to keep pulling the steering wheel to the right so you don't run off the road.
That day I kept running off the road mentally.
Oh yeah, I tried using the office computers but, it's just wasn't the same. The files I use every day and that I save on my desktop weren't there, because it's not my computer. The passwords that I have saved in my system weren't there, because it's not my computer. The bookmarks that I save in my browser weren't there, because it's not my computer.
Just as those comfortable pair of shoes or your favorite shorts that you forget to pack for a trip, it can put a damper on your whole vacation.
Which gets to my point, appreciate the small things in life, like a charger or those favorite pair of shoes because when you lose them you may find yourself in the weeds. Find something you take for granted today and appreciate it...or them.
