I'm betting THAT certainly got your attention didn't it?
There's a method to my madness with this post, and it's to help prove that titles matter.
It's Tuesday so it's time for another Ask An Ambassador post, but in this case, putting the AAA phrase in front of the title would have detracted from the impact of the title. I needed it to stand alone, perhaps cause a shock and a twinge of curiousity about what was happening inside the post??
Now if all you want is your curiousity satisfied, here's the Cliff Notes version. Last week my mother and I enjoyed a Western Mediterrean cruise that included a tour of Pompeii. And among the excavated sites from this city destroyed in 79 A.D. was a brothel, complete with illustrated paintings on the ceiling that customers could have used to place their orders (and no, I didn't take any pictures!).
So while my title is accurate since I actually DID take my mother to a brothel, it's more of a clickbait approach isn't it? The context is ENTIRELY different than you might have thought at first glance.
For me, titles fall into two categories:
1. Those designed solely to get clicks and attention from a wider audience than the subject matter might otherwise gather (such as the one for this post)
2. To be factual.
Now most of the posts I write probably fall into that second category, and those are my moneymakers.
They appeal to a much smaller audience, but one that already has interest in the topic and knows what to expect when they click to open the post.
And with a factual title, I'm more likely to gain some SEO.

There should be ZERO surprise to anyone as to what to expect with the post since the title clearly defines the subject matter. The content is there to amplify the title. No surprises, no shocks, no clickbait. Sgt Friday at work :)
None of those posts are likely to generate tremendous views or any comments at all. But what they do? They cause the phone to ring. It might be next week, it might be in 3 years, but subdivision/niche housing posts are my bread and butter for generating business.
For each post, consider your audience.
If your audience is other Rainers, you can get fast and loose with your title.
If you're looking for consumer views, then for me it's the factual approach so Google will help place the post and then the consumer will find the title and snippet in the search results and click through to me.
Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help!
