WHY YOU SHOULD BUY A HOUSE ON THANKSGIVING

When November comes, the weather becomes extra nippy and the air smells of Thanksgiving. It is the start of selfless service and warm cheer. It is also the beginning of house hunting for those who understand why. Once again, the mind of a house buyer shifts during the season of Thanksgiving.

As the turkeys await their fate, you may be contemplating purchasing your next home. This would be a great time to welcome friends and family to your new nest by Christmas. Here are the reasons you should buy a house during the Thanksgiving season:

  • Low interest rates. During this time of year, interest rates drop because the Federal Reserve suppresses all rates until they almost reach zero. The interest rates of the fall season extend up to Thanksgiving. It would be a great time to take advantage of this.

  • Home sellers are ready to sell. Those who have put their homes on the market are eager to part with their residences during the holidays. If you are looking for a new home, you could get a discount on the house that you have been eyeing since the start of the year. Negotiations with the home seller are possible because there might be a necessity to sell the home at the soonest. One of the reasons could be a financial dilemma, so the home seller might be willing to agree to the amount you propose.

  • The holiday spirit is in the air. It is almost instinctual for people to have the urge to help others during the weeks that lead to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Home sellers might agree to your price because they understand how it is to need a home for the holidays. The need to give also reaches the offices of the mortgage loan companies.

  • Less competition from fellow buyers. The season of Thanksgiving usually means a lower number of home buyers. This may result in fewer offers that could counter yours. It is likely that you could avoid a price creep that usually happens with multiple buyers wanting the same residential unit. If you are the only one interested in that piece of property, you could get the house at a lower price as well.

Note that if you do not have the cash or a funded check to purchase a house during this season, getting a loan would be challenging. During this month, most of the people who approve home loans will be on vacation. Be sure to choose the house that you want before Thanksgiving comes. Arrange all the necessary appointments and documents you need to acquire a home weeks before the celebration. This way, you could acquire your dream home before or just after Thanksgiving.
