Good News for Fort Meade area homeowners. On October 4th, the leaders of our local Anne Arundel County Government, home to Fort Meade and the Nation Security Agency, signed bill 76-18 which allows for a 15% tax credit for retired veterans in the County.
Designed as a tax incentive “thanking our veterans for their bravery and service to our nation”, County Executive Schuh hopes that “this new law will demonstrate our continued commitment to being a County that our veterans can call home”.
With an average tax bill in the $3,000 per year range, this will save many families $450 or more per year.
The credit applies to homeowners with properties that have an assessed value at or under $500,000. And keep in mind, tax assessments in our area are generally much less than the market value.
Residents will need to apply for the credit by April 1 of 2019 to be eligible for the 2019 tax credit.
No application information is currently available but we'll post it when it is.
