Authenticity is Not a Trait to Fear in a Realtor

Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

Everybody holds the power to be truly authentic in their work, family and personal relationships. Yet, I am continually amazed at all of the excuses I hear for not employing that power. In fact, some real estate agents go so far as to hide their own personality behind a mask. A mask that they think others want to see.

They study scripts and memorize words, trying to become a "salesperson."

Because as agents we continually show up for a new job every single day, some fear competition. Agents can spend endless hours watching what other people do and they try to emulate those agents, when the best thing they could possibly ever do is be themselves.

Still, they refuse. They are holding that winning ticket and they want to burn it. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Authentic Realtors Display a Voice of Reality and Reason.

Helping make your real estate dreams a reality

We have examples of good things to emulate and those we don't wish to; we can certainly learn from others, but ultimately we need to be authentic, to be who we are.

Clients really want to get comfortable with someone whom they can relate to, someone who will give them straight forward answers. A recent client had a previous agent who just didn't listen to her, didn't even show her homes in her price range, mostly because there weren't many IN that price range. It wasn't easy, but I DID find her a home in her price range that she loves. We closed last week and she's recommending me all over the place.

Authenticity engenders trust. How can you have a relationship without it?  Perhaps it's where I am in life at this point, I hate wasting time, it's the worst,  and giving honest answers is the only way to cut through all the bs in life - personally and professionally.

Being genuine is very important in my book. People soon find out when you try to fake it.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. People tell me they can see a connection in my eyes. Well, my mother used to say I had little white flags that sprang up in my eyes when I didn't tell the truth, so maybe she was right.

Simple, direct and caring. That's how I like to keep it.
