A Pet Peeve-making showing appointments directly with Sellers??

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential Georgia Realty

Are agents becoming busier or simply lazy?  I become really frustrated lately when I have to call a listing agent's Seller directly to make appointments.  Even worse than that is when I speak to an agent and they ask if I can call their Seller for them...how lazy is that?  As a listing agent of about 15-20 homes on average of inventory I, I find it hard to believe that agents simply don't have time.  And we wonder as agents why the number one thing that Seller's complain about is that they don't talk to their agent enough or at all.  I don't want to sound like I am against making business run more efficiently however I value maintaining open relationships with my Sellers more.  Your thoughts as fellow agents are welcome.

Real estate practice certainly varies regionally.  Here in my little corner of the world we've been making appointments directly with sellers since I started selling over 22 years ago.  Of course, sometimes it's neccessary to call the LA but it's the exception to the rule.  It's makes setting up showings much more efficient and I wouldn't have it any other way.

That is unbelievable.   I would never have another agent contact my seller directly for any reason, that's part of the reason they hired me.  I just read it's different in other parts, but where I am that's part of our job.

The relationship is why you have 15-20 homes on average. It is frustrating enough to have your home listed but when you don't hear from your agent or see your agent, that is time you need to find one who is willing to actually earn their commissions.  I am sure your way of taking care of business is why you repeatedly will get the referrals and the lazy agent will be out of business soon.  Good going!!

if i were the seller, i wouldn't be too thrilled with my agent giving out my number....if the listing agent doesn't want to schedule the appointments,  then they should at least hire someone to do it.
