Buying A Home This Fall Comes With Some Advantages
Thinking about buying a home this fall? Sure, the days get shorter as we enter the fall and winter months, but there are a few benefits for those looking to buy a home this fall.
With the shorter days and longer night ahead, one would think “not the best time to buy a home.” But, not so fast – the slower pace just might be what the doctor ordered for would-be homebuyers.
Are you in the market to buy a home? Here are 3 of the top reasons why buying in the fall or winter might workout as the perfect time to buy your dream home.
1. Finding Deals
The spring and summer months are when most sellers tend to list and sell their homes. But, after Labor Day, homes still on the market need to sell “and” sellers usually have no choice but to reduce pricing.
Once October rolls around, buyers start to dwindle and sellers start to panic. Sellers have fewer chances to capture buyers leading to sellers making deals.
2. Less Competition
As I just mentioned, most home buyers look to buy in the spring and summer months. As soon as school starts and we enter the holiday season the pool of home buyers dwindles sharply. Translation: less competition and better buying opportunities!
3. Motivation
Two things really motivate sellers this time of year, closing before the end of the year and the holiday season.
Home sellers usually need to take advantage of a gain or loss during this tax year, and this is when a lot of homeowners look to make deals in order to close before December 31.
Don’t be surprised to find sellers eager to sell right before the holidays approach. Most sellers want to sale before their Thanksgiving feast. And, if sellers have their way, they want to close escrow so they can focus on planning their parties and events.
Bottom line: come November 1st, sellers are super motivated "plus" most sellers want to be finished with all the disruptions caused by listing a home for sale.
Well, there you have it! And contrary to what most buyers may think; buying a home in the fall does have its advantages.
