Managing Real Estate Broker with Fathom Realty PB00068179

Buster Warenski was born in Kimberly, Nevada back in 1942. Frankly I do not have any information about him that is until 1966 when he was 24. Prior to that his hobby was making knives however after seeing a photo of a knife made by Gil Hibben he started making knives full time.

By 1975 was president of the Knifemakers’ Guild for 2 terms and a Blade Magazine member of the Cutlery Hall of Fame. He was famous for his “Art Knives” making them exclusively after 1975. He built a recreation of the gold dagger found in King Tut’s tomb. It took him 5 years to make the knife from 32 ounces of pure gold, that knife beame his “Legacy Knife”. He went on to build “The Gem of the Orient”, that one had 153 emeralds totaling 10 karats, 9 diamonds totaling 5 karats. That one took him 10 years to build. It sold for $2.1 Million. So, I ask you what would you pay for a knife? For me it certainly would not be 2.1 Million. The last one he made had 28 ounces of 18K gold, 22 rubies totaling 4.25 karats and 75 diamonds totaling 7 karats. He died in 2005 at 63. So, I’ll ask you again what would be the top dollar you would pay for a knife?

Until tomorrow give someone the free gift of a smile

Good morning James,

I do not know what I paid for the pocket knife or my butcher knives but cringe at what they would cost today!

The ones above are out of my reach in price, unless the ticket wins tonight!

Make yourself an astonishing day.

I am sure they look really nice, but I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a knife, haha.

Hi James Dray - I already spent it on a chef's knife.  One knife was around $300.  But I love this knife and use it for just about everything.  It cuts and slices like butter!

I've paid close to $40.00 for a Victorinox. Where there's a possibility your life may depend on it that's a small price to pay.

Hi James

Well that was certainly an interesting, and seemingly lucrative, choice of careers. Just a bit outside the budget for me but would be fun to see such  special knives.

I would find it hard to spend that much money for a knife but these people must of had more money than what they knew to do with it James...

Hi James- I have 2 Ken Onion Shun knives that I bought from Williams Sonoma. Larry knows never to take those from the kitchen to use on any of his "hobbies or projects!"

Dear James,

You can get some decent knives for under $100. Could not imagine paying that much for one, but there are collectors of all kinds of things, who just have to have their special stuff.

I've never had an interest in knives, James, except for cooking and using in the kitchen.  However, your story perked up my interest 100%.
