Just a short drive from downtown Columbia, SC along the busy thoroughfare of Broad River Rd near Harbison BLVD is wonderfully preserved piece of wilderness known as Harbison State Forest. A favorite for local hikers, joggers, and biking enthusiasts, Harbison State Forest boasts 18 miles worth of trails that range from easy to difficult. Visitors are also welcome to make use of the canoe landing if they would like to explore the waterways by canoe or kayak.
Primarily used as a recreational and educational space, there are also facilities to rent throughout the grounds as well. Picnic tables at the entrance of the forest makes for a great area to enjoy lunch or just some fresh air.
