Now that I have been working back in the mortgage world as well as being a Colorado Real Estate Broker, I can truly see the benefit of knowing both sides of the industry.
There are so many things in the mortgage world that a Realtor should get familiar with if they are going to be a valuable resource to their clients.
Of course, as Realtors, we have loads of continuing education to keep up to speed on the ever-changing real estate regulations. In Colorado, we are required to complete at least 24 hours of continuing education every 3 years in order to maintain our license. Since 12 of those are elective courses, I highly recommend taking some mortgage related courses.
One course which I just completed and found very useful is
KEEPING IT HONEST:
UNDERSTANDING REAL ESTATE AND MORTGAGE FRAUD
This is a course I took through theceshop.com
I love this site because I can work at my own pace and complete my ce credits throughout the year. The prices are very reasonable and the class curriculum is very thorough.
They offer another course which I think would be very beneficial to Realtors:
FROM CONTRACT TO KEYS:
THE MORTGAGE PROCESS
This is a 6 hour CE Credit class and is offered for only $59.00.
Managing your real estate transaction closely with your lender is the best way to insure a successful - timely closing.
