Who tells a seller that Halloween is the wrong time of year to list?

There was a home seller who canceled our appointment. When I asked why, he said he met with another Realtor who told him there are few buyers during the Holidays. It was strange because the fall market here in the Manchester NH area can be pretty busy.

I convinced him to let me come anyway, to at least see the home. I got the grand tour and we sat to talk. I brought him a stack of listings that have gone under contract or Closed/sold this fall. The point was to show him how busy it really is. Halloween is not really a holiday that keeps people from buying or selling a home. Buyers buy anytime of year they need a home. He was quite impressed with me he said. Could i come back and meet with his wife next week to list their home. 

In the mean time this shirt showed up in the mail. We joked a lot about Halloween and he thought of me with this YOU CAN'T SCARE ME - I AM A REALTOR SHIRT. Bless him for thinking i was a  medium, so I looked it up and ordered my size so i can wear it to our next appointment. 

In the end, I have heard from other agents "how dead they are".  For me it is full scale busy as can be. I think the difference is waiting for business to come to them as opposed to going out and making business happen. Who tells a seller it is the wrong time of year to list?

The MOST IMPORTANT thing in real estate for me, is to provide great service. To stand out from the crowd by being there through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest.
