Fall Tree Planting.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with WHISPERING PINES REALTY 20398180

Now is the time to transplant your fall tree selection.

Remember the ones I told you to go mark.

The ones that have the fall color you like.

Ok...

Find your location  and make sure there are not electrical wires in the  area.

Best to have someone come out and locate first.

Then, dig your hole  1 and 1/2  times larger than the ball of dirt that is on the tree.

You may want to use some other soil depending on the soil that is from the hole.

Adding some fertilizer is a good idea.

Soak the hole down with water.

Put the tree in the hole so that it is at the same level of the ground you dug it  up from.

Make sure you pack the dirt firmly.

Water heavily.Use 3-4 ropes tied to stakes to hold the tree firmly in place.

Keep the tree watered until it freezes. ( in colder climates.)

Come spring be ready to keep the tree watered so that it gets enough water all

spring summer and fall the first year.

Good Luck!

I did this tree 5 years ago.

It is now starting to bush our nicely

Morning William.

My wife and I planted three trees about 2 years ago.  They have really started to grow. It won't be long before they give us some much needed shade in the summer.

Great instructions, William Feela . Fortunately, I don't need to replant anything... and even if I did, it wouldn't be me doing the work.

Good morning William. No trees in my apartment in the sky now, but had many years when watering duties took some time. Enjoy your day!

Tree selection is an important component to planting.  I have a neighbor next door who planted two Norway Maples on their front lawn.  Unfortunately, each autumn, thousands of little helicopters shed from the trees and land on my lawn.  If my lawn guy misses one, it takes root.

Your directions for planting are spot on for what I learned decades ago from a nurseryman. I am glad to report I have a better than 90% success rate on plant survival over the years.
