Second Blog Of The 2018 Progression Of Fall Colors In Middletown, CT.  Fall Has arrived in Connecticut, which means it is time for my Progression Of Fall Colors series I started seven years ago.  This is a series I hoped to continue for many more years to come, and have been able to do so far. The first two years the pictures were of a farm which is only about a minute walk from my house.  five years ago I decided to change the location for the 2014 Progression Of Fall Color Series to a lake about 5 minutes from my house on RT17.  I tried that location for two years, but the colors were not as good as I expected them to be.  Three years ago I decided to change locations again to a site on Lyman's Orchards in Middlefield, CT.  But once again that site did not produce the colors I had hoped for, so this year I am going to keep it simple and do my Progression of Fall Colors blog of my back yard.

The first picture above for this year's Progression Of Fall Colors series was taken a week almost 2 weeks ago, before the colors started to change.  But this week, as you can see in the picture to the left, I have started to notice a little change in color.

As I have done for the last seven years, I will post pictures of this same spot at different points throughout the Fall to show the progression of the Fall colors.  It is to early to get a feel for how the colors will be this year, but hopefully when I post my next blog there will be a more noticeable change of color, and a better idea of what the Fall colors will be this year.

Fall is a beautiful time of the year in New England, and even though last year was better than the previous years, they still were not what I had hoped for.  I have become spoiled by the beautiful colors we normally see during the Fall, so I am hoping this year the colors are truly outstanding.  My favorite colors are the trees with yellow, orange, and rust color leafs when they blend together.

Anyone planning to come to New England to enjoy our Fall colors at their peak, should plan on coming between the last two weeks in October to the beginning of November.  It is still to early to get a feel for what the colors will be like this year, but I will be trying to show the progression of the trees as they turn colors throughout the Fall.

Fall Has Arrived In Middletown, Connecticut and I hope you follow my series of the change in Fall colors throughout my 2018 Progression Of Fall Colors In Middletown, CT.

George Souto  The colors of Fall are not as vibrant here either this year . I have a client whose family visited CT .last week and expected to see beautiful Fall foliage they said they were a wee bit disappointed from their trip 5 years back .

George, I look forward to your Fall Progression Posts and the history refresher is always fun. Interestingly the times I lived on the East Coast New Hampshire has always been the Global Destination Place  for the Fall Colors so do not be hard on yourself:) I remember reading and hearing that people from all over the Globe often were either too early or too late for the perfect changing of the colors:))Endre

We're not seeing a lot of color here, and last night it was really windy (lost power for a couple of hours) and we've got a bunch of green leaves on the deck and lawn.  There is some orange/yellow, but not as much as I'd like.  Bill

Hi George... I think I'd have expected to see more of a change over the past 12 days at your end of the world. Not much color here in Charlotte as yet either.

Our fall is a little delayed but the cooler temps will bring it along in the next couple of weeks. The dogwoods are already turning red.

Good morning George.  Yes, I can see the beginnings of the colors.  I saw in the news that it is cold up there and this may accelerate some of the changes.

George Souto - I see a little progress too! At least the green leaves are still on the trees. And those rain clouds look like hope is in the air to paint the colors of the leaves.

Thank you for creating this series! It's worth it!

It's a very gradual change; I'm surprised you don't have more color by now. You know, you inspired me to take similar photos of the golf course in my back yard. Like you, the changes are subtle at this point. I hope you get the brilliant Fall colors New England is known for.

Boy, is that ever a slow change this year, George! Funny but, today is the first day I've noticed ANY changes here in Charlotte! My backyard remains green as green can be though - and they're not evergreens either!!
