A Realtor Requirement for Completion of Code of Ethics Training

Real Estate Agent with GreatWest Realty DRE# 00827565

People, who know me, also know I'm not much of a procrastinator, even though I sometimes designate certain activities as "rainy day" tasks.  However, experiencing rare rainy days in the middle of a California drought can often put things on the back burner.  One such task was the completion of Code of Ethics Training required by the National Association of Realtors for its members.  Realtors are required to complete no less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of ethics instructional time within two-year cycles.  This two-year requirement is fairly new.  The deadline for this cycle is December 31st 2018.

Yesterday was a gorgeous Sacramento day, but the specter of this looming requirement was occupying too much activity in my head.  Rather than procrastinate any further, I belted up to my computer, went on-line and completed the course.  The experience was far easier than I had dreaded, and I scored 100% on the exams.

I am proud to be a real estate professional who enjoys Realtor designation, which promotes professionalism and ethics in our arena.

Morning Myrl.

I chalk it up to one of those tasks, while I'm not fond of it, it is a necessity to keep doing what I like to do

I did my update in early September, Myrl, and killed two birds with on stone as it also counted for CE credit this coming year. I'm still not convinced you can "teach" people to be ethical.

Did the same last week.  I've got 2 more courses to finish my Kentucky post licensing CE (48 hour requirement) and also just finished the CRS 2 credit maintenance.  I don't have Ohio CE due for another 18 months, so plenty of time for that 30 hours.

I need to do it too. I've got a busy travel schedule for the next month, after that hope to get it done. I'm with Nina though, can you teach ethics? Ha.

NAR makes it easy to get this training and so does our Association. We have free classes for this mandatory training every 3 months. Good for you Myrl, now you have it out of the way.

Congratulations, Myrl. I scored 100% as well, but I took my Ethics course a long time before you. Must have been in the summer when it was so danged hot in Sacramento. You really do procrastinate but it could be worse, you could have waited until Christmas. But you know what they say, better late than never.

Good for you, Myrl! You must feel great about having this training done!

I got a somewhat threatening email from my Board about this that made it sound like I was at risk of losing my license, but having renewed my license in July 2017 I have met the requirement and they verified it...until the next round. No doubt many need the reminders.
