DIY Halloween Decor - A House Just Isn't A Home Without A Ghost!

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

Halloween is such a fun time for decorating!

My favorite form of Halloween decor is diy projects.

This year I don't really have the time to go all out and I'm keeping the

Halloween decor to a minimum.

I don't have anything Halloween inside the house, except this portrait of my dear parents.

Aren't they adorable?

Mom suffers from headaches. Dad does his best to comfort her.

Two years ago I shared my diy ghost, which ended up going to haunt my daughter's house.

I moved into a new home this year and you know what they say...

a house just isn't a home without a ghost.

So, of course, I've made another one.

Last year's ghost was made with a stuffed bear as my model.

This year the model was me.

I don't know why, but I tend to make my ghosts as ghost brides

There is just something so tragic about dying on your wedding day.

My ghost bride spends most of her time flying around out on the front porch.

She has also been seen floating above the guest room bed a few times.

I didn't want my ghost to be alone outside...she needed a friend out there on the porch...

so kind of like Frankenstein's monster,

I pieced together a suitable partner in haunting for her.

It is yet to be determined whether it's a he or a she....

Let's just say it is a gender neutral companion.

We refer to it as "they".

Bride Ghost and They seem to be enjoying the porch.

I'll be sharing directions on how I made my hooded Halloween figure later this week.

You can check out my previous ghost post for directions on how to make your very own ghost.

Happy Halloween

and

Happy Haunting!

Oh wow! I love your ghost bride! I may try to make one of those this weekend if I can get to the store and find a Styrofoam head form. Awesome!

Aloha Sharon Tara, I used to love to make Halloween "dummies" and your ghost bride is the most creative I've seen and moves eerily in the breeze too! Thank you for your submission to the Haunted Post Parade!

Libby Cousins  They sell the heads on Amazon, if that makes it easier for you to get one. Otherwise check out beauty supply stores or wig stores.

Kathy Streib  I'm not as much fun to live with as you think...just ask Rick. LOL

Lisa Von Domek  We had some very powerful rain and hail about an hour after I took the porch photo. My "decor" had to be returned to the house. I'm not sure I can actually leave them outside due to the wind we have.

Debbie Reynolds  Thank you! I certainly have fun this time of year!

Kimo Stowell  I had a lot of fun making these two...I wish it wasn't so windy out on my porch...I'm not sure how much time they will actually get to spend out there!

Grant Schneider  with an unlimited budget I would knock it out of the park, but I'm far to frugle. I just won't spend the money some people are willing to spend on seasonal decor. As I get older I have less holiday decor in my home.

Honestly, if not for Kimo's contest this month, I probably wouldn't have had anything at all for Halloween.

Gita Bantwal  thank you! I put a lot of effort into it.

Amanda S. Davidson  Halloween and Christmas are wonderful times of the year to drive around and see the decor. I really enjoy it, especially with hot cider or hot chocolate in hand.

Gabe Sanders  You would have cause to be afraid...the way the wind blows in my yard, there is a good possibility my creature could fall on you!

Hello Sharon - as I venture/walk I don't see a lot of Halloween decor and certainly none as creative as yours.

Michael Jacobs  My new neighborhood seems to have hay and corn stalks and pumpkins, but I'm not seeing many frightening Halloween decorations. I don't even know yet if we get any trick or treaters here. My decor could end up being for my own enjoyment.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089  You would have gotten plenty of candy. We only had 11 kids show up.

Inna Ivchenko Thank you!  Using plastic makes it water proof and light weight!

We had a fun Halloween, hope you did too!
