Who Has Never Been to a Dog Park?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Gold DRE #00697006

OK, I raise my hand. When I had dogs a long, long time ago, in another life, dog parks did not exist. But, whoa, let me tell you what I discovered. Not that I'm in the market for a date because I am NOT, but if I were looking to pick up a guy, you can score no better than at a dog park. I mean, forget about drinking establishments.

Dog parks are where it's at. There is an entire social community happening at dog parks. People with dogs already know that, I imagine. You can read more if you like in my personal blog today at this link: Photos of the Central Bark Dog Park in Kona.

No I have never been to a dog park. And I have three dogs! So why not? I have acreage and we have subdivision playdays with many of the dogs here. My house is the go to play house. Maybe I am the dog park, LOL.

We don't do dog parks because we have acreage, but also because many people are out there with untrained and unsocialized dogs who do not have control over their dogs.  While there are benefits to dog parks under the right circumstances, we would never subject our dog to one.  Glad to know they do dual function as a meat market, though!  LOL  No, seriously, I would be far more inclined to want to meet folks at a dog park than at a bar...we would have something in common right off the bat.  I just wouldn't take my dog.

Susan Haughton The park I was at had two areas, one for small dogs and the other for big dogs. They seemed very knowledgable and their dogs were trained, well behaved, nobody got into fights. And everybody gets to know each other.

On the other hand, maybe you don't want to date a guy with a dog. I once dated a guy who owned a malamute. He put down a blanket over my floor to keep the hair off, but everywhere in the house, hair. He was sooooo BIG, too! Eventually we broke up because his dog needed its own house.

Hi Elizabeth- when we returned to Delray Beach from VA, we discovered to our delight that they had redone and revamped the park we used to launch our bass boat at. They have a big dog park with areas for different sized dogs.

I can't go into a humane shelter because the one time that I did, I wanted to walk about with most of them. That said, those people should have made you feel like VSP's !!!

Kathy Streib That was a very weird experience at the Humane Society. I contribute to the American Humane Society and would have considered supporting the Kona arm, too, if they had even said HELLO or GOODBYE or just nodded in my direction, but they did not.
