"The metamorphosis of people is so fascinating.

I guess that's why everybody loves before

and afters, throwback Thursdays,

and all that kind of thing."

The City of Denton will present the musical "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Performances will be this Thursday 10/25, Friday & Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and a Matinee on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Location: On the Square in Old Town Denton, at 214 W Hickory ST, Denton, Texas 76202.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. Songs by Disney. As the Bells of Notre Dame begin to ring, the audience can expect to be transformed into the 15th Century, listening to the sound of the bells coming from the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. What's the occasion? It's the Feast of Fools! Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer longs to be "out there" with all of the people reveling in the Feast. He longs to be free! But he is forbidden! Not allowed to do so by his devious caretaker! Sadly, Quasimodo observes all the people on the streets down below the tower.

Quasimodo is being held captive by archdeacon, Dom Claude Frollo! Oh no!!! So sad... As the bells toll, your heart strings will feel the tug. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is only human. He gets so excited, he escapes for the day! He must join the crowds!!! He's no fool. But the boisterous crowds are mean! They scream! They never saw anyone like Quasimodo. But the beautiful Esmeralda doesn't see him as a monster. Or does she? The real monster is....  Is it Captain Phoebus? Frollo? As the meanie, tries to destroy the image of poor Esmeralda, Quasimodo pulls up his courage and strength to save her!

What's next? You'll just have to go see the musical and find out! Rent the movie, or read a book!

Hannah Williams - Yes! It's a REAL classic! Out of all the ones I saw long ago, i.e., The Wolfman, Phantom of the Opera, everything by Alfred Hitchcock, Vincent Price, the Mummy, Frankenstein, etc. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the only one I cried at because I felt so much compassion for Quasimodo! As you say, the "story is unforgettable!!!

Patricia I have seen the Hunchback of Notre Dame on TV, but I bet it would be really special to see it in person in a play.

Beth Atalay - I saw the movie a few times but I don't recall reading the book. Nor have I ever seen a play. It should be fun and exciting, especially in such an old theater!

I'll keep you posted!

In my younger years, I saw the movie, Patricia.  What an impression it left me with.  I'd love to see it as a musical.  I can't even imagine it!
