Third Blog Of The 2018 Progression Of Fall Colors In Middletown, CT. Fall Has arrived in Connecticut, which means it is time for my Progression Of Fall Colors series I started seven years ago. This is a series I hoped to continue for many more years to come, and have been able to do so far. The first two years the pictures were of a farm which is only about a minute walk from my house. five years ago I decided to change the location for the 2014 Progression Of Fall Color Series to a lake about 5 minutes from my house on RT17. I tried that location for two years, but the colors were not as good as I expected them to be. Three years ago I decided to change locations again to a site on Lyman's Orchards in Middlefield, CT. But once again that site did not produce the colors I had hoped for, so this year I am going to keep it simple and do my Progression of Fall Colors blog of my back yard.
The first picture above for this year's Progression Of Fall Colors series was taken a week almost 3 weeks ago, before the colors started to change. But by last week, as you can see in the second picture to the left, the leaves had started to change in color.
The temperatures dropped significantly this week, and the cold weather has accelerated the change of color of the leaves, as you can clearly notice in the third picture below and to the right. This is a noticeable change in just six days from the previous picture, and I expect for the leave to continue to quickly change over the next week. That is if the wind and high winds we are supposed to get this week end does not blow many of the leaves down.
As I have done for the last seven years, I will continue to post pictures of this same spot at different points throughout the Fall to show the progression of the Fall colors. Even though we are just into the middle of Fall and many of the leaves are still yet to change, I am already beginning see better colors than we have had the last few years. By the time I post my next blog we should have a really good representation of what the Fall colors will be this year.
Fall is a beautiful time of the year in New England, and even though last year was better than the previous years, they still were not what I had hoped for. I have become spoiled by the beautiful colors we normally see during the Fall, so I am hoping this year the colors are truly outstanding. My favorite colors are the trees with yellow, orange, and rust color leafs when they blend together.
Anyone planning to come to New England to enjoy our Fall colors at their peak, should plan on coming between the last two weeks in October to the beginning of November. It is still to early to get a feel for what the colors will be like this year, but I will be trying to show the progression of the trees as they turn colors throughout the Fall.
Fall Has Arrived In Middletown, Connecticut and I hope you follow my series of the change in Fall colors throughout my 2018 Progression Of Fall Colors In Middletown, CT.
