My neighborhood has had to deal with a jerk who has strong political connections and he seems to continue to get away with what ever he wants regardless of who is elected to what.
The property he owns is a commercial property surrounded by residential properties. There isn't a home owner who's land that boarders his that can't stand the crap he pulls off... yet he seems to be able to pull off what ever he wants.
One person in the City I can count on is our Mayor, Shaun Sipma. Shaun is a good friend. He ran on reform and he has done a good job but he still has some tough cookies to deal with who still kowtow to jerks like our commercial neighbor.
Check out this sidewalk.
The freezing temps have killed off the weeds that were nearly knee high but what remains is still easily tall enough to trip an adult of child on this busy sidewalk. This is a busy sidewalk that leads to the Roosevelt Park Zoo and to Corbet Field. The weeds grew unchecked all summer long.
So what does Margie Zietz, City of Minot Code enforcement Officer say when she emailed me today after I had sent her the picture above?
As of 10-30-18, the commercial property is in compliance.
Well I wonder if it would comply if it were her neighbors yard?
I know this sounds petty but it's just the latest thing in a long line of things such as building an illegal road right through our block, renting out his commercial building to a long list of prohibited businesses for the zoning he is in, deliberately encroaching on multiple neighbors properties over the years, allowing his dumpsters to overflow and let trash be strewn across the neighborhood, and much, much more. He is the kind of neighbor you know full well that if a city official lived next to his property he would have been shut down years ago.
