At the last moment, I have decided to enter Brian England’s October challenge of writing about myself.
So here goes.
I was born and raised in North Carolina, attending North Carolina State University, getting my degree in Textile Management and Materials. I got married the weekend after graduating to my wife of 37 years, Cathy. She is absolutely my rock.
We moved the very next week to NY where I went to work for Burlington Industries. Along the way I went back to school and received my MBA in the mid 90’s. I was transferred to Atlanta in the mid 80’s and worked in the Textile business, building my own company until 2005. That’s when all my business went overseas and basically put us out of business.
Wondering what to do next, I jumped into Real estate and never looked back! I was also to use my hobbies in my work as well. I love videoing my listings and doing my own editing. I am also an avid photographer, but I leave the listing pictures to the true professionals!
I also love to travel. I have been to Mexico, Canada (Both Sides), France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, England, Scotland, Germany, and several Caribbean islands. My dream is to one day retire to the islands and write a novel. Maybe something with a Real Estate protagonist?
I have worked in the movies too. The Atlanta area has been busy with film makers. I have been in movies, Commercials, TV shows, and plays. Trodding the boards has been the only time I had lines! My first play was done as a lark. I went and tried out, thinking my first ever play would be a small part, off and on stage quick. Nope. Since no one else tried out, I got the male lead with its 55 pages of lines to learn.
I can not make this clear enough, never, never again! I am way too old to learn that much and I was constantly scared to death on stage. We did however, close to rave reviews and the 6 days we presented the play was a record money maker for the playhouse, mostly due to my Realtor friends coming out to cheer me on.
So, there you have it. That’s me, for better or worse!
