How to Keep Scorpions Out of Your Bed - Prevent Them

By

It is hard to visualize your home being invaded by scorpions. Not only is the idea scary, but it also seems impossible until you spot one or a couple of these critters in your home. Preventive Pest Control mentions that if you are faced with this problem or live in an area where scorpions are known to be, you should be aware of ways on how to keep scorpions out of your bed.

How to Keep Scorpions Out of Your Bed

1. Use Glass Jars On Your Bed Frame

The trick here is to try to prevent the bugs from climbing up your bed. The trick to do is cut their path from the structures that go up your bed. First, maintain some space between your bed and the wall to ensure the stingy critters have no other pathway to your bed. Next, place the bottom of your bed’s frame into a glass jar. Covering the legs of your bed frame with glass jars will make it harder for scorpions to climb up onto your bed.

2. Keep Your Bedding Tightly Tucked

You also want to ensure your bedsheets are not hanging on the ground. Whether they are blankets or sheets, any hanging bedding is a foothold for the scorpions to climb up on. Anything their claws can hold onto will propel them up on to your bed.

3. Hang Up a Smooth Surface

Protecting the lower part of your bed is not enough. You also have to protect your bed from the top against scorpions that may have climbed up the ceiling and drop onto your bed. When you're away from your bed, be sure to cover your sheets with either plastic or even a sheet of glass.

4. Take Preventive Measures

A more comprehensive plan is one that seeks to prevent scorpions from getting into your home in the first place. This includes draining any water accumulation spots, using lavender-scented oils and sprays which have been shown to deter scorpions away.

Conclusion

Keeping scorpions out of your home, especially your bed is not a difficult thing to do. Blocking their pathways and taking the correct preventive measures will ensure that your house is clear of these critters. This article went over some simple methods on how to keep scorpions out of your bed that you can start implementing today.

Back when I used to fight forest fires in the Southwest we had to constantly check our sleeping bags for these things, but never had a problem with them in our homes.

Thanks for the advice.
