I know this might be an old subject to some of the Active Rainers, but I am so curious about the pros and cons of working from home.
If you work from home, please tell me about it.
Thank You,

Jeannette, I have worked from a home office for 26 years now. I was working out of a home office before it was even popular. I can't imagine doing anything else. I have been in real estate 11 years and I have worked from a home office the entire time. For one short stint I had an office at a RE/MAX but I could not get anything done; I'm way too sociable to be in that atmosphere. I now have my own brokerage and don't miss going in to an office AT ALL!!!
Yes I do and I really like being here. Sometimes it is difficult staying positive around other Realtors in the office who are venting about the market. You need to be self-disciplined, but I like being at home!
Thank you so very much for responding about working from home. Do you feel guilty about not going to the office?
Thanks,
Jeanette
I think it depends on how 'self-motivated' you are! In 20 years I've worked from home 2x for about a year each time - can't say it worked for me......I kept getting tempted by washing dishes, vacuuming, and laundry! lol.....
I work from home more than I work at the office. At one point when I first started, I would go into the office every day. I felt that that was important at that time to learn from the more experienced agents, when they were in the office of course. I feel that I get more done while at home, because I can put a limit on my distractions. I sometimes feel quilty about not going into the office, but I'm only a few minutes away so if I'm out and about I'll stop in to see what I've been missing.
I work at home also and have for about 10 of my 20 years in this business. I can get a lot more done at home but I do miss the comradarie of the office. On the other hand there were way too many interruptions at the office.
But what about the all of the visiting and interuptions at the office?
Sometimes I cannot cope with this.

The big con of working from home is distraction... The big pro is distraction... No, actually, the biggest problem I face is 4 years old and wants to play hockey. But, here I sit approaching midnite getting work done.
I mainly work from home, I go to the office only when I really need to or if I am just out near it.
Think is depends on the person.
There are distractions at both home and office.
Do what works for you.
I used to work entirely from home when I was in an open cubicle situation. Since renting a private room at my RE/MAX office, I love having my private space and feel that I work more efficiently at the office. Although nothing beats being able to have dinner and a load of laundry going with my dogs sleeping under my desk while I work - talk about multi-tasking!
Hey there and evening Jeanette
Jeanette, I sure do hope things are going well for you!
