Yellow Tiger Lily, Kentlands Photowalk, Gaithersburg, Maryland
Tiger Lilies are always fun to photograph during summertime photowalks through Kentlands, our home community within the City of Gaithersburg in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland.
Subhash Sharma "This nice looking Lilium speciosum also called Tiger Lily which comes in many colours was first described by a famous Swedish botanist Carl von Linne (Linnaeus) in 1753. It has significant medicinal use and its alcoholic extract (tincture) made from the fresh plant in the past, has been employed in treating some disorders of the reproductive tract and also for the nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. It is also claimed that tiger lily flower essence helps in suppressing aggressive tendencies in individuals and helps in holistic healing but this is not conclusively proven."
Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend who lives in Ireland. He frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.
