After an earlier blog that said Sacramento is the 5th worst market in the nation, this is GREAT news! Kiplingers Personal Finance magazine based their decision by weighting the "size and growth prospects of a citys "creative class" - people working in technology, the arts, education, business and a range of professional fields." To get to a final 10, the magazine also looked at each region's "cost of living, as well as recreation, arts and dining scenes." Houston topped the list and was followed by Raleigh, N.C.
What they didn't say is what is within 1 1/2 hours from Sacramento - ocean beaches, lakes, snow, mountains, San Francisco and rivers. While we are known as a great stop on the way to somewhere, those who stop often stay. When we had several military bases here, retired military would come back to Sacramento to make it their permanent home. We also have been voted one of the best singles cities.
