What a morning it's been! I woke up early and made myself some coffee and settled into to watch a little morning news and wake up. It was 'chilly' here in Phoenix this morning so my plan was to enjoy some coffee first, then go out for a hike. And yes I know the middle 50's isn't really chilly but to us Phoenicians it is!!
I smelled the coffee brewing and something didn't seem right. What was that smell - it smelled like something was burning. I thought maybe I just wasn't awake enough yet. So I poured a cup of java and watched a little news. Half way through the first cup I just couldn't drink anymore of the java - it was horrible. Which isn't like me as that's what helps me wake up in the morning ! Ugh.
Gary pops into the family room and takes one look at me and says - what's up? After all these years he knows I need java first thing in the morning before I can function like a normal human being. I asked him to smell the coffee pot. He says - smells kind of weird but what do I know, I hate coffee. Oh Great, now what.
I figured my only option was to clean it out with a mix of water and white wine vinegar - forgetting how much that stuff stinks! As you can imagine my morning wasn't going as smoothly as most mornings go. After I started that process I knew it would take a lot of pots of fresh clean water to rinse it out. And it might be time to just buy a new machine!
Then Gary asks me if I would be so kind to pick him up at the car mechanics as he needed to turn in his truck. Well there was my answer - I'll stop and pick up a big cup of java on the way to the mechanic and I'll wake up!
Anyway, long story about a tiny little pleasure in life! And that's what made me think - how grateful I was for java. Sometimes we forget about all those little things that make a difference in our every day life, don't we? I did until my coffee debacle morning!
Thankful for a Good Cup of Java!
