ActiveRain Ambassador Debbie Reynolds has issued a Thanksgiving Challenge to blogger members to post up to ten blogs before Thanksgiving expressing our gratitude for things large and small that bring joy or special meaning to our lives. It is a good time to count our blessings.
I am grateful for our membership and for our regular visits to the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art in Chadd's Ford, PA. Click on the link to visit the website and plan your visit.
The next major exhibit that we plan to attend is Winslow Homer: Photography and the Art of Painting which runs from November 17, 2018 through February 17, 2019. This exhibit will explore the role that photography played in the evolving practice of one of America's most iconic artists. The exhibition features about fifty paintings, prints, watercolors and drawings from all of the major periods on the artist's career as well as many photographs collected by Homer.
We always want to see the Brandywine Christmas which runs from November 23, 2018 through January 6, 2019. A special event is the Annual Critter Sale which will be open to the public from November 29 through December 2, 2018.
Renowned for its holdings of the Wyeth family of artists, the Museum features galleries dedicated to the work of N. C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. The Museum’s outstanding Heritage Collection is a cross section of American art, with a special focus on artistic practice in the Brandywine valley. Nineteenth- and twentieth-century landscape paintings testify to the beauty which drew well-known artists to the area. Important portraits, still life paintings and notable holdings in American illustration add diversity and breadth to this unique collection.
