Thankful For My Cell Phone!

While out hiking this morning I became aware of how easy it is for me to enjoy nature and take care of a little business along the way - if needed. A home was closing and title needed just a  little bit of info - one click and done - back to hearing the birds chirp. Now some folks say - oh no - don't bring your phone hiking!  And I say - it works for me and whatever works for you is fine by me! My trusty little yellow phone gives me the opportunity to do business and enjoy my nature alone time!

The other thing I love about my phone is being able to text even if I am with a client.  I always put my phone on vibrate when with clients. And 'if' it's important to text a client back, I can - and not interrupt a showing or whatever is going on in that moment. Now don't get me wrong, I'm one of 'those' that don't think it's professional to interrupt the process while with a client. But, texting, if done right and quickly does work fine.

It wasn't that long ago when there were no cell phones and somehow business still got done, just not as easily or quickly as we can today.  Then there were pagers and that was a step up BUT we still had to find a phone to call in! And then we had those BIG bricks for phones - not much to say about those babies!  I used to say my favorite phone - ever - was a little tiny yellow flip phone that I could easily stick in a pocket. But I don't say that anymore - I really appreciate my yellow iphone and all that it can do - easily.

Thankful For My Cell Phone!

Anna- totally YOU having a "banana" phone!  My first phone was the size of a brick and I remember how we had to be very careful because we were charged by the minute. Thank goodness for our cell phones!

Hi Anna... there are those days when I think my pink/glitter smart phone is more of an electronic jailor than anything else... but overall, I'm with you. I can't imagine anymore how we used to do business without them.

Isn't it amazing how much cellphones have changed our lives?  I can remember in 1981 when I was first licensed, there were none.  Soon after our office got a MLS computer, and later came a fax machine.  I may have been the first, or at least one of the first agents to get a pager.  And, my first cell phone looked like this.

Oh Anna, you know I appreciate my cell phone... especially after being without it for two weeks.  I finally got the replacement yesterday and I'm so happy.

Anna, I still remember a break during a Tommy Hopkins workshop where there was a line about a hundred agents long waiting to get to one of three phone booths at the venue!  Tines have really changed!

Anna it is amazing how much I depend on my cell phone these days.

I still remember the day of having to pull up to an outside phone booth to call into the office to get messages.  That was REAL fun in the winter ....... LOL

I agree, Anna! It's one of the most valuable tools we have - if not the most valuable (behind US, of course)! And, you know I'm totally with you - not while I'm with anyone but, boy, does it ever speed business up when we're not with others! I can't imagine business life without it either.

You know what I like even better than my cellphone, Anna? My Apple Watch. It has its own phone number (which you can get) so I don't have to carry my cell with me while hiking. The Dick Tracy aspect of it is pretty cool, too.

Love your banana phone. Only YOU!

The cell phone is a necessary evil! I think while we tend to work more with a cell phone in our hand (there is little "off" time), we also can balance life better.

So very true,  "long ago when there were no cell phones and somehow business still got done.

I could tell you just about where the pay phones were up and down the blvd, and which ones you could and could not use because someome stuck their gum on the earpiece!

I so appreciate my phone!  Great post girl :)  Back in 1983-1984 I was a property manager with about 200 apartments.  Carrying  a pager meant it would go off at all hours of the night.  Calling the service, then the tenant to tell them to shut off their leaking hot water heater and giving the sage advice that they would not be getting a hot shower the next morning was a different kind of fun.  Not to mention that carbon copy of manual entry rent rolls!  Ah but I digress!  We're so spoiled as compared to then, hard to believe how much technology has changed so quickly.  Have a great weekend!

I remember the big bricks of phones. I didn't have one but my husband did and one month his cell phone bill was $1800. We have it so good and cheap now.
