This is Day 2 entry into the ActiveRain challenge hosted by Debbie Reynolds. We've been asked to share the joys, what blesses us the most, and why it is a blessing.
Day 2 is sharing more of what brings joy to my heart. Several months ago I was looking for a place closer to my home to relocate a rooster I rescued Thanksgiving weekend last year. Anyone who knows me knows that Half Moon Bay is my happy place on earth.
In my searching, I found Sweet Farm. While they could not take another rooster, it is a blessing that I found such an amazing place in my happy place on earth.
"Sweet Farm was created in 2015 by two dedicated animal rights supporters, Anna Sweet and Nate Salpeter who wanted to create a sanctuary to increase advocacy and awareness for farmed animals while leaning on their backgrounds in technology to enable global impact."
I attended the Sweet Farm First Annual Harvest Moon Festival in September and I was hooked. I became a member and attended the last member event for the year in October.
Member events will start up again in April 2019.
Sweet Farm also has a Community Supported Agriculture program that creates a deeper connection to food and supports local farmers. It's also the freshest produce I can get besides growing it myself. The U-Pick program allows me to pick my own mix of seasonal greens, roots, herbs, fruits, and flowers.
Everything Sweet Farm does resonates with my heart. It truly brings me joy. It is a blessing because this non-profit's mission is about education, animal advocacy, and sustainable living.
Thank you, Debbie Reynolds for hosting the Thanksgiving Challenge.
