Read Your Blogs Out Loud. I Can't Understand What You Are Saying

This is excellent advice.  And, something I really should do more myself:

Original content by Tammy Emineth

Are you reading your own blog?

There are folks on ActiveRain that pump out 5-10 blogs a day! I seriously don't know how they have time to do that AND practice real estate, but nevertheless, I still see it. I actually had to un-subscribe (AHHHH GOD FORBID!) someone because all I saw was page after page of their blogs that didn't pertain to me at all. Maybe if you get 5 listings at once and you put them all up on AR on Monday, then ok, that's fine... but those that shovel out blog after blog and I'm not even sure they know what they're saying..... really?

Are you just trying to up your points; be the face everyone sees or do you just not care?

Each blog takes me a good 30 -60 minutes minimum to make sure I have read it over, proofed it, spell-checked it, added the appropriate graphics and optimized it correctly. When I read some people's blogs it appears they never took the time to read through their post to make sure it even sounds decent. Sometimes, I'm confused about what the writer is even trying to get across.

Granted, I am not perfect and have had those typo's, wordo's and all kinds of mistakes but I try not to and I hope it comes through in my blogs in general. There are some people that just try to get out so many posts in one day, they don't read through them or have any idea what they have just said.

Now that we homeschool our boys, I've noticed my youngest is the worse culprit. I'll read something he's written and know he never read it back to himself, even silently. But there is something to reading it out loud. You get the flow of the text better and may even notice things you wouldn't notice had you read silently. Reading out loud forces us to slow down and really look at and say each word individually.

Read your blog out loud - you will be surprised as to how it sounds.

Thanks for the reblog, Gabe. I missed the original. I'll admit to having had similar thoughts myself in the past. And I admit that I get seriously irritated when I see posts that have clearly been "rushed out" without a lot of thought or spell check!

Gabe, I have been guilty on occasion, and luckily a reader will send me a personal note.  I do read out loud, but sometimes before coffee can be dangerous.
