Florida Tropical Foliage and Plants

I am thankful for the beautiful tropical plants and trees that are abundant here in Florida.

As far back as I can remember, I have always had a love affair with beautiful plants and trees.  When I relocated to Florida I was amazed at all of the new tropical varieties that were growing here and how big they were.  That really surprised me.  Much different from the northeast although I still love many of the beautiful trees and plants that grow there as well.

I am still learning about the varieties of palms and plants, many species are native to Florida and thrive in our climate.

With lots of rain, humidity and sunshine, we have the perfect environment for these beautiful plants to grow and thrive.  Year round we have lush green grass and blooming plants. I have a variety of plants such as these growing in my own yard. I live on the mainland, where the air is not as salty as on the beachside.  If you live on the beachside, the plants need to be more salt tolerant.

My gardenia tree is a sight to behold in the spring when it is blooming. The fragrance fills up my entire backyard.

HI Joyce... I always love admiring plants and flowers but I hate having to do anything that makes them look good and admirable.

Joyce Marsh, Daytona Beach Florida - I share your passion and love for trees and plants. Your photos are beautiful! They say things grow bigger in Texas but after seeing plants and trees in Sarasota and reading your blog post today makes me question whether or not things actually do grow bigger and better in TX?

May you always be happy and live with trees and plants make you happy!

Joyce Marsh, Daytona Beach Florida , those gardenia trees are so magnificent - what a natural decoration for a front yard. Sometimes, I touch the beautiful, oversided leaves of the Florida plants, and they are real indeed .... :)

Deepak Chauhan MCNE® That gardenia tree is an outstanding specimen.  It seems to really thrive in its current location.  It did get hit a few years ago from one of the hurricanes and we lost quite a few of the larger branches but it survived and still doing well now.

I hear you Nina Hollander I'm in favor of the plants that seem to take care of themselves more or less.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI I'm not sure about whether they grow bigger in Texas or Florida actually but I do know that if they are in a good location they certainly seem to thrive and grow to amazing heights.

Steffy Hristova I can certainly understand that.  Those gardenia blooms are so beautiful that they look almost too perfect and not real.
