Home Buyers Are Not Delivered by the Stork

Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

Trying to combat some of the misinformation in the real estate industry is like trying to explain how a leader of the free world can make up stuff when so few seem to care. It's like if one repeats a lie often enough it starts to sound like the truth. Which is why it's very annoying when a seller insists that a listing agent has bunch of buyers to work with, when they don't.

It's a little bit like living in Opposite Land.

One of the goals of a real estate agent is to put a buyer into escrow. If an agent cannot perform that function, that's not saying much about the agent, now is it? You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Sacramento Sellers Ask: Where Do Buyers Come From?

Buyers are internet driven these days. Not often are the area listing agents with the sign in yard, getting the calls they deserve.

Dear Elizabeth,

That would be something, if it were storks. Never seen one on this continent. In my business, most buyers come from the internet as well by an overwhelming margin.

Good morning,  Elizabeth - much of our role in real estate is education/teaching. We explain and then we listen. Carefully.

Hi Elizabeth- I have to laugh because while I was reading your post, in my head popped the picture that some of these sellers must have...that of a bunch of people that you have in a room just waiting for you to call them about a house.

Hats off to you, Elizabeth. Great topic, but even greater title! Just loved it.  Always amazing how many urban myths there are out there amongst the public about our business.

When we do our jobs well it is so satisfying. This family looks mighty happy with their choice of home and agent.

Elizabeth, we do hear this when we go on a listing - do you have buyers for my house?   NOPE, I am a marketer!

Before reading your post, my response is this - why lie? And, boy, are we on the same wavelength today or what, Elizabeth?!!

Okay, after having read that - I totally agree. Syndiacation is only as good as the input though and I think that a lot of listing agents miss the mark on marketing their listings - spelling errors, iPhone pictures, terrible write-ups...the list goes on. I have also found that listing agents often don't follow up on showings. Buyers agents have questions, they ask them in the feedback and then never hear from the agent. So, they call and the LA doesn't answer the phone.

Hiring someone to do the job and do it right is KEY in Sacramento or Charlotte or ANYWHERE!

Okay, I'm off my soapbox now! LOL
