My Gratitude For Bee Pollen

By

When I was in my teens I developed my first allergies to shedding dogs. Over time I was allergic to most cats, dogs, horses and had developed seasonal allergies. Everyday activities could be clouded when my sinuses were inflamed and taking my energy. I learned how to avoid certain situations where pets were involved and to deal with an allergic reaction, which could take a while to get under control.

Bee PollenOver the years I figured out a few more things that set my sinuses into a raging battle zone, one in particular was alcohol. That was a hard one for me. Like most people I enjoyed a glass of wine with a meal or a beer with friends at social gatherings. I tried different types of beer and wines, even organic options. But it never really mattered because my sinuses would just rebel, so to this day I do not drink much alcohol.

Shortly after Doug and I hooked up we were at a restaurant on a country road that had placemats advertising bee products, like honey, bees wax and bee pollen. It stated the benefits of use of these products, such as helping with allergies, and Doug commented that he knew of people who used such products who had positive results

So I thought why not use local honey in my tea and try using bee pollen on a regular basis so my body could build up a defense to allergens. We found a good local source for the bee pollen at Booth's Corner Farmers' Market and I have been taking a teaspoon full everyday for many years.

Along with drinking alcohol only on special occasions and taking local bee pollen and using local honey I have greatly reduced the seasonal allergies I experience during the year.  I rarely need to use sinus pills and I am convinced that bee pollen did the trick.  Thank you honey bees for bringing in the local pollen so I can protect myself from full blown seasonal allergies!

I used to be a big proponent of bee pollen in the 1970s. Then it fell out of favor, and I don't even know why or even why I took it. For energy, I think.

However, I guess with the newest Monsanto employee appointment to head the federal Fish and Wildlife we can kiss the honey bees goodbye.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents I am hopeful the local small beekeepers will be able to keep the honeybees alive.  I have a brother who is doing just that in places away from large farms.  Yes it is very sad state of affairs for honeybees.  Thanks for stopping by.

Gloria, I had no idea about all your allergies, this is amazing that those bees can help and nothing wrong with substituting honey for sugar, glad things are now more manageable for you, Endre

I never knew that bee pollen had that beneficial effect.  I have seasonal allergies that have my eyes running a great deal of the time.  Alcohol immediately turns my face bright red.

I just read the comment #1 left by Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents .  I hadn't heard that about the Monsanto employee heading up the Fish and Wildlife department.  That is darn scary.  What's next for this administration - Lorena Bobbit for Surgeon General?

I had heard that by using local honey you can build up immunities to pollens and sinus problems. My husband has a lot of these problems. He should follow the regimen. I have heard glutens cause these problems too. Maybe the alcohol triggered that. Thanks for sharing this remedy.

Thank you Endre Barath, Jr. .  Yes it was nice to find a solution, a way to manage the allergies.

Thank you Kat Palmiotti .

Myrl Jeffcoat sounds like you have similar allergies to mine.  If you do include more bee products in your diet, try to get stuff from  your area for better results or within a few states.  And yes it is scary...

Debbie Reynolds If your husband does try bee products it takes time, not an overnight fix.  That makes sense about alcohol and gluten.  The body changes and we have to figure it out!  Hope your husband finds relief from his allergies.
