When I was in my teens I developed my first allergies to shedding dogs. Over time I was allergic to most cats, dogs, horses and had developed seasonal allergies. Everyday activities could be clouded when my sinuses were inflamed and taking my energy. I learned how to avoid certain situations where pets were involved and to deal with an allergic reaction, which could take a while to get under control.
Over the years I figured out a few more things that set my sinuses into a raging battle zone, one in particular was alcohol. That was a hard one for me. Like most people I enjoyed a glass of wine with a meal or a beer with friends at social gatherings. I tried different types of beer and wines, even organic options. But it never really mattered because my sinuses would just rebel, so to this day I do not drink much alcohol.
Shortly after Doug and I hooked up we were at a restaurant on a country road that had placemats advertising bee products, like honey, bees wax and bee pollen. It stated the benefits of use of these products, such as helping with allergies, and Doug commented that he knew of people who used such products who had positive results
So I thought why not use local honey in my tea and try using bee pollen on a regular basis so my body could build up a defense to allergens. We found a good local source for the bee pollen at Booth's Corner Farmers' Market and I have been taking a teaspoon full everyday for many years.
Along with drinking alcohol only on special occasions and taking local bee pollen and using local honey I have greatly reduced the seasonal allergies I experience during the year. I rarely need to use sinus pills and I am convinced that bee pollen did the trick. Thank you honey bees for bringing in the local pollen so I can protect myself from full blown seasonal allergies!
