Gingerbread house contest results are in!

Drum roll please.....Here is our entry, a cardboard, non-edible gingerbread house, (per the stated rules.)  I am pleased to announce we won "Honorable Mention," essentially came in second place. As I was the appointed builder, I was delighted I was able to keep the house. If we won, I would have signed over the deed to the Lincoln County Board of Reators. The house was complete with a listing sheet showing a 3 ft lot and 2 baths.

outhouses

Both outhouse baths included a couple of tiny rolls of toilet paper. The house was listed fully furnished, had a sofa, table, hearth and many extras such as craftsman window sills and cloth curtains, door screens, all from recycled junk mail, scraps and old xmas items. The roof was made from a "seasoned" older box of lasagna noodles which had a special firmness perfect for roofing material.

Exceptional job, Martek Real Estate!!!!

Lighthouse

Here are the other two entries, this seafood shop was my personal favorite.

The competition was fierce!

The winner, Martek's fabulous lighthouse, will be exhibited under a Christmas tree at a charity function at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon. Proceeds go to Angels Anonymous, an organization which helps Samaritan Communities hospital in Lincoln City.

Hats off to all who participated in this wonderful contest, I hope we do it again next year!

Hi Barbara Le Pine - That is a very cool contest. Congrats on Honorable Mention. You are right, I can see all the work that goes into building a ginger bread house!

Hello Barbara -very creative but too bad(probably a smart idea) that the rules stated non-edible.

Sherry,  Took so much time to build that I am glad I got started early, will start even earlier if they hold another contest next year. Thanks for visiting!

Michael, this was so much fun I plan to build a small edible gingerbread house that can be eaten as a dessert after Christmas dinner.

Debe, Those other houses were certainly a tad more edible than my cardboard version!
