It's a great day in Tallahassee! This afternoon, the Florida State University Seminoles broke their worst losing streak since before the Bobby Bowden Era, by defeating Boston College 22-21.
The FSU Seminoles had a lot at stake going into this game. They have played in 36 consecutive post-season Bowl games (the current record for College football teams). FSU had to beat Boston College, and next week they must prevail against their arch-rival, The University of Florida, to remain Bowl eligible.
Football is huge in Tallahassee. Our town comes to a standstill on Game Days. Everyone is either at the game, or watching the game on a big screen TV, or listening to Gene Deckerhoff on the radio.
Suffice it to say that Fans are not very happy this season. We are used to finishing in the Top Five, or winning the National Championship! We don't lose games, we win games. Until this year, when our team has been completely blown out by its opponents.
But today, Florida State came back to life, triumphing over #20 ranked Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium, here in Tallahassee.
Will Florida State beat our nemesis, the Florida Gators, next Saturday? We must, if we are going to play in a post-season Bowl Game.
