Help At Least One Family Survive Fire in Paradise

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

It is probably the optimist in me who wants to believe that we humans on planet Earth are more alike than we are different. Forget the red states or blue and set aside socio-economic demographics, the color of skin or religious beliefs, and let's just help each other.

That's the one thing -- the most important thing -- any of us can do in life. If you don't know this by now, you will when you get older.

This concept is crystal clear to me when I am "on island" in Hawaii. It is not so clear when I am back on the Mainland. Probably because I am not surrounded by similar mindsets.

When I read Kathy Streib 's roundup last night, just before settling in to write my blog, I instinctively knew what I needed to do. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Help Jim Cronin from the Real Estate Tomato after Paradise Fire.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - What a heartfelt post you've written. Although you are safe in Hawaii, your heart is in CA and to the people who are in the parts that are burning. I agree with you 110%. It's time for Americans to put away their childish ways to be right about being in a red state or blue, demographics, color of skin, etc. We all bleed the same color and right now there are many in need. The destruction to Camp Paradise is a type of armageddon that is incomprehensible. I read a post by Myrl Jeffcoat yesterday and she mentioned runny nose, itchy eyes, due to air quality. My heart went out to her too. Yesterday, I read a FaceBook page from a friend of mine whose husband is a Firefighter in IL. We have been friends for a long, long time. For her birthday she's asking for donations for the firefighters in CA. I think your message is crystal clear with no smoking mirrors, it is our responsibility to help one another and put away our stupid and very childish differences.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI See, nobody ever knows where I am. Actually, I am in Sacramento right now, at least until after Thanksgiving. Then it's back to Hawaii Island.

So, yes, we have the smoky air in Sac. An article in the Sac Bee today says people who have runny eyes and scratchy throats are more likely to be unhealthy to start with and that healthier people don't seem to suffer as much. I just stay inside if I can help it.

I saw Rich's post and am so glad that you wrote such a wonderful post to get the word out, Elizabeth. We can ALL do something - this is about humanity, certainly not political affiliation, although that seems to be where everyone's minds go these days.

Great shout-out, Elizabeth, for help. It's hard from 3,000 miles away to know how to make an impact... but when it's for one specific person, there's a relationship that is forged and you know that you really did help.

Endre Barath, Jr. I blame my attitude on the time I spend in Hawaii, it rubs off. It's not that it hasn't always been there, it's that we let life get in the way.

Nina Hollander I am still in Sacramento. Only 90 miles away from Paradise. Or, "Pleasure" as our President referred to it (twice) when he was there. What was priceless was watching the thoughts race through our governor's head as he stood next to him, listening to Trump mispronounce the name of the town that had been wiped out.

Hi everyone!
I just posted this comment below on Elizabeth's initial post , and thought you might like to see it here as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share our story and link to the gofundme campaign. The truth is that all this love, generosity, and genuine concern for us has really softened the blow of this nightmare.

The happy update is that we have secured a nice rental home (north of Red Bluff), that will be our comfortable residence for at least the next year while we figure out what to do with the rest of our lives.
I'm back to work full time, and the rest of the team were unaffected...so the 'Tomato is strong!
It sure helps that I can steer the ship as long as I have an internet connection =)
Thanks again - and I look forward to keeping in touch.
