Water damage to homes

Did you know that water can do more damage to your home than fire and termites put together. This is a fact published in Realtor Magazine. What kind of damage? Now, I'm not going to speak of the obvious, like flood, water heater leaks, etc.. I'm going to speak of the less obvious. Look around your home. If you don't have gutters, do you see where, especially in the roof valleys, the water has dug holes at your foundation? If you're not going to go with gutters, you, at least need a large splash block to get the water away. If you do have gutters and no extensions. Look at the holes at the downspouts. Get some $5 extensions. That will save you a ton of money down the road. Also, keep your gutters free of trash. Clogged gutters will rot your exterior trim. Watch out for leaks in your gutters. That will also cause problems. Many times, they can be sealed with silicone. The main thing is to get the water away from your foundation. The holes that you see, if unchecked will gradually dig under your slab and can create serious problems, later on

Thanks, John. Due to our expansive soils that we have in Mississippi, it is vitally important here.

True, water can post a lot of issues, including to the foundation. Gutters are very helpful!
