I am so Thankful for Water

By
Real Estate Agent WV0026375

I am so thankful for good clean water.  I drink about 64+ ounces of water a day, I cook, clean, wash clothes and shower daily and can not imagine not having clean water to do these tasks.  Have you ever thought what it would be like to have dirty water or no water at all.

Did you know that 663 million people in the world live without clean water. That’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide. Or, twice the population of the United States. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family. Not only does walking for water keep children out of school or take up time that parents could be using to earn money, but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone sick. But access to clean water means education, income and health - especially for women and kids.

I am so lucky to have good clean water and wanted to help in someway. This is why a few months ago I started donating to Charity Water. Below is a short video of how to help people get good clean water.

I am so thankful for our good clean water to drink, bathe, wash our clothes, and to cook our food.  Just think what it would be like to have unclean water!

Rebecca, when I was working in the Ukraine, I had to boil my water every morning to make a cup of coffee. I let it cool down, filtered it and boiled it again for the instant coffee and oatmeal. It was still brown when I put it in my cup. It took a little over an hour to make a cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal. I instantly loved clean water and couldn't wait to get home to get some.

A beautiful young woman from our church who I've know since she was tiny is a nurse.  As a student she traveled to the Ivory coast and she called home and asked our church for money for a well for a town.  We ended up raising enough money for 5 wells in 5 towns.  That was 10 years ago and we have continued to fund more wells for more towns since.  I loved this post.

What a wonderful charity - I never heard of it, but am making a donation. One person (the Charity Water founder!) can definitely make a difference.

On a recent road trip with our RV to Florida we had two days on the trip where we had no running water. We had to use what was in our tank or bottled water. You really learn how much you take for granted the luxury of running water!
