Winter is Upon Us - Is your Car Ready?

Denver has seen a couple snowstorms, and the thought came to me - wonder if I have all the necessary needs Winter is coming in my car just in case I break down.

Some items you should have in your car during the winter months ---

` Water

` Blanket

` Gloves & Hat

` Breakfast bars

- Emergency kit

` Flashlight

` Windshield scraper

and a roll of toilet paper!

The Red Cross suggests extra winter clothing and a utility knife as well. If you have a medical condition, extra medicine be included in this list. If you should get stranded for a few days --- what would you need?

Cat litter is really good if you should get stuck in the snow, and even a small shovel is a good idea. Be sure your windshield fluid is full for splash back.

Have you changed your wiper blades and checked your antifreeze lately? Maybe this is also a great time for snow tires, especially if you travel in the mountains.

Thankfully we don't get a lot of snow here although sometimes we get ice. I can guarantee you in either case I'm the last person you'll see on the road. A little freezing precipitation around here makes everyone drive crazy so I stay out of it.

Joan, I have a kit in my car at all times that my Dad put together for me before I started driving. I've of course replaced items over the years but, he taught me early on that being prepared for a breakdown is a must. This is a great list and I hope people take your advice and put these items in their car.

I changed my wiper blades a few weeks ago. I think I am ready. I keep a blanket and pillow in my car year round for spontaneous trips to the movie theater. I like being comfortable.
