Can Your Neighbor Cost You The Sale Of Your Home?

Real Estate Agent with William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty CT RES.0783448

As many obstacle's that may come in the way of selling your home, one of which you might not think about could be your neighbors. I was recently showing a property to one of clients. She had expressed some interest, but still wanted to see some more homes before deciding on where she should live. As we were finishing up, we were talking outside and one of the neighbor's drive by screaming at me my client and her parents about having a car in his space. In our defense, there was on clearly marked visitor spaces nearby and the neighbor does have a  garage.  We did apologize and started to get going. About 2 minutes later, he came by again and continued to yell at my. My client has already left, but texted me to meet them somewhere near the entrance since it took me a little bit of time to make sure the house was secure when we left. I speed off and the neighbor was still making me feel uncomfortable. When I met up with my clients, they were so upset, she has to more interest in that house or being in the neighborhood with a change of seeing that person again. I feel bad for the listing agent & sellers, as the property was already in an area with considerably above market time due to a number of other factors.

I have also seen other things neighbors due to deter buyers. They might have too many cars and motorized vehicles parked outside, their yard & home might not show as much pride of ownership as your home and unsecured animals. You should talk to neighbor directly about your concerns. Explain depiste all the years of friendship, etc, this is a financial decision and would appreciate anything that they can do so you can move on to your next stage in life which requires the sale of your home. I would advise them before you go on the market, as they might have someone that might want to buy your house.

Unfortunately, Neighbors can be a deal breaker.  If they get a chance for a full conversation with the buyers, it is hard to say what is being told.

I don't blame the buyers from walking away. Sounds like this guy is much like road rage.  He could pop any minute. Find them something they will love.

Jonathan neighbors can send a deal south in a hurry, and this was a really good example of that.
