Our November challenge was to write ten posts about what we are thankful for. That was a pretty easy task and they are done.
The holidays can be a wonderful time but it can also be a cause of melancholy.
Writing those ten posts was not enough for me.
So I decided to try it
The Rome Way
making a list of things that made me smile,
Starting with a blank legal pad...
I wrote
'Happy Days'
Recalling a delightful experience that made me smile... I wrote just a few words on the first line that reminded me of that time.
The memories came flooding in. With each story, event, or memory came the smile. With each smile, I jotted down just a few words...enough for me to bring back the special happy times. What a delightful exercise. That was a few weeks ago.
This afternoon, a good friend called to touch base before Thanksgiving.
We started reminiscing, feeling a bit sad...I remembered the list and wanted to share while encouraging her to do the same.
And a little while later dear lifelong friends called. Again I mentioned and shared a couple of those lines. Why? Because some of the events included them.
Four and a half pages of single lines and each entry was a beautiful memory.
Each one made me smile with happiness for what I had...not what I lost.
Thankful for the ease of writing each line.
Thankful that I plan to continue with the list while making new memories.
Can you hear me smiling?
