I am blessed to have many people in my life I call friend. Today I talked to 6 agents, 3 clients, 4 people in my family and 18 friends. If you have ever run into someone in the grocery store and worried about your ice cream melting before you ever get to your car, we might be friends. I was so sad to learn in a grocery store this afternoon that a former vendor and father of a friend is ill. The store was crowded and I was picking up last minute Thanksgiving items for me and my daughter (who was in the parking lot with her tiny sick human), but I still took the time to listen to him and for a minute forget my own worries and just listen.
I have done my share of being the talker with that friend as well. We haven't seen one another in probably 5 months and we took time right there by the frozen cookies to catch up. Sometimes I run into one of my high school friends and we do that kind of catch up and it's like no time has passed. It's like we can just start talking like it hasn't been 30+ years since we saw each other daily.
And I have a dozen or so friends that I rarely see, but I talk to them regularly. We call and try to catch each other in between appointments and brain storm, share woes and celebrate the good things in our lives. Some are ten minute calls, others are two hour calls.
And something I love most about my family is that we talk. I talk to my parents every single day. I also talk to my daughter every single day. If my daughter is working 7 to 7 I talk to her on her way home as she drives. If she works 11 to 11 I generally talk to her both on her way to and from work. It's about a 45 minute drive. And it warms my heart to know that if I'm not available for her talk to because of an appointment she calls my mama. And they talk or text daily as well.
I was given the gift of gab and I'm thrilled for that. I love that I have heard my mom say all my life that I've "never met a stranger" because I will talk to ANYONE and everyone. So if you feel like talking sometime, dial my digits. I'll listen. I am thankful for the meaningful conversations in my life. I am thankful that I still get to talk to my mom every day. I am thankful that my daughter wants to talk to me every day. Life is so good.
