New Generation Homes: What Millenials Prioritize When Buying Homes

Industry Observer with Spot Color Marketing

People buying homes nowadays are getting young and younger. With today’s generation- the millenials are looking for something different when looking for a home as homes for these young adults is something very personal. They’d like to portray their personalities in the places they live in, they want their homes to be unique like themselves, innovative and smart like this generation, and tech savvy like the trendy home nowadays amongst others.

Millenials have priorities a when looking for places to live in- from their beloved pets to varying lifestyles and the convenience of technology, they like their special needs to be met when choosing their dream homes.

 1. Outdoor space

First on the list is having a yard or at least a park nearby. Not only is having a comfy yard a good place to entertain guests but they also think about their pets. They like their pets to be able to run around and do their own thing, after all- having a dog or a cat penned inside the house is somewhat inhumane! A fenced yard is more suitable for these pet lovers to keep off other animals from their beloved pets and to keep passerby’s safe from them too. Also, with an ever active lifestyle, having a close park or walking trail is a major plus for these young adults. Millenials want a relaxing place to unwind and a place to play around with their pets.

2. Smart Home

Millenials are consumed by technology and smartphones thus having a smart home is a perfect idea for these people. A smart home is a major convenience to home owners and millenials, want the convenience of doing things in the easiest way possible; being able to monitor their appliances and storage including their surrounding areas for better security, alter the furniture, adjust the lights and the temperature, answer a call while being in the bathroom without actually touching their phones, all these with just a few clicks through a remote or smartphone otherwise using speech.

3. Functional

Floor to ceiling windows with a nice view of the skyline with 4 bedrooms, a luxurious kitchen, a theatre like room with a surround sound system may be very appealing to most millenials but most actually just purchase functional homes. Why? This is because it’s a lot easier to maintain a moderate but functional and efficient home. Being trendy and tech savvy does not mean they are not practical. Millenials want almost everything in just a few clicks or at their reach.

Having these three things in mind, millenials are having challenges when looking for homes to rent especially for pet lovers. Most young adults nowadays just prefer to save to be able to build their own unique homes. People in Portland and surrounding areas prefer the services of BC Group- a Portland Real Estate Developer. Building distinctive homes that will fit the special needs of today’s generation is somewhat challenging but not the case for BC Group. BCG has extensive experience in many areas of real estate development; consultation, design, management, payment processing, insurance, construction and many others. These people are the real deal!

Their strength in negotiating architectural and general contractor contracts is exceptional resulting to a less project management issues. The entire team puts diligence, focus and care a priority. They provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to make sure their clients are well informed as they value their client. Attention to detail and quality of work is their goal.
