POP THOSE CHRISTMAS TREE PIMPLES

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with people first...then business Ran Right Realty 636943 licensed to thrill

I used to rent space to Christmas tree sellers every year. Why not? It bought people to my property management office, it looked good and they paid me rent too. I used to even record special Christmas music tapes and play them on loud speakers all day long and let the spirit of Christmas do all the rest

THE TREES HAVE SAP

I noticed when I touched the trees, I would get sap on me and some of that sap wouldn't come off either without some scrubbing. But something else happened. I learned that those little pimple like mounds on the tree, its limbs and bark held the sap and the scent. A most pleasant outdoor tree scent too

DO THE HOKEY POKEY

So, I went around piercing all the pimple mounds or sap bubbles (whatever you want to call them) with a pointed probe and released the scents...Consequently the whole area filled with the smell of fresh cut trees and their essence. Since then, every tree I have ever purchased, I have done the same

CITY PEOPLE DON'T KNOW

I have shared this with people and more often than not, they are surprised to hear this. I bet if you had to cut down your own tree, you would discover this phenomena on your own just like I did.

OPTIMIZE THE EXPERIENCE

Get some hot chocolate or apple cider, put on the Christmas classics, get your self a pointed probe and start releasing that beautiful natural scent....Christmas will truly be in the air. Next stop? You heart!

Kathy Streib my grandfather (dad's side) had a 200 acre farm.  We used to to in the woods and find a cedar tree for our tree every year and I just loved it.  Looking back they were a bit like Charlie Brown's trees... not much prior to the trimming, but always turned out beautiful when my mama was done adding the icicles at the end.

Hi Richie,
I don't put up a live tree anymore but I remember well the scent of a fresh tree.  It almost always came from the woods or our own property.  Thanks for sharing the pimple popping strategy.  Happy Sunday.

I haven't had a live tree in years, but I never knew this fact about trees. We live and learn! Doesn't that create a sticky mess inside the house? Fallen pine needles that constantly need to be swept is enough deterrent for me. :)

The sap that comes from the pimples just adheres to the tree and bark. For the "needles", people put down a colorful disposable cloth. In the end, it is all subjective dear lady Pat Starnes-Front Gate Realty

What a fun post for the holidays, Richie. I knew about the pimples but never thought of them as such! There is something special about the smell of pine trees during the holidays.

For the first 3 years here in Cali we went and cut down our own trees - such fun to do that in shorts and sandals instead of parkas like back in New England.

It summoned your "fun" gene did it Jeff Dowler, CRS ...? When we subject or join ourselves to Nature a wonderful dynamic kicks in. Everybody is themselves
