"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world,
and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful!"
---Norman Vincent Pearle
I'm not interested in who believes or who doesn't believe in Christmas. Or whether you believe it is too soon or not. I do believe this is a special time of the year. At night, you can see the lights on Main Street in Grapevine, TX. To me, it looks like a Norman Rockwell town. I like to see the shops closed at night to see the silent power of lights and the magic that waves over this main shopping area close to Flower Mound.
When I walk or drive through old town Main Street, there is a mysterious longing for the upkeep of traditions that were good for me growing up in America. Seeing what store merchants do to their shops raise up my feelings of hope in believing Christmas is a special time of the year. As, I meander down the streets at night, the lights are brightly shining, not to be gaudy but be drawn to some type of magic that is impossible for me to describe succinctly.
I am humbled with gratitude for the freedom to uphold traditional values at a time of the year when many believe Christmas brings people together. I know, I am one of those who doesn't always have the privilege of celebrating Christmas the way I would choose; however, this time of year, isn't about me. As this store merchant reminds me, "Good Things for All Seasons," is a time to celebrate the good and to remember, "to everything, there is a season." To be reminded of birth, traveling afar, twinkling stars, sledding, a Christmas Tree, hot chocolate, white winter snowflakes, but most of all family and friends, I am thankful and forever moved by my faith to fear not and to celebrate this joyful and meaningful holiday.
